About the Artist
Hi, I’m Niamh, an abstract artist based in Manchester, UK. I am predominantly a painter, exploring themes of nature and identity. I am interested in painting as an expression of memories, places and an exploration of myself and my experiences.
Nature inspires a lot of my work, drawing upon places I’ve visited, childhood memories, and small moments that often go unnoticed. I want my paintings to feel like moving through a space, translating experiences and moments, not replicating nature. I see my work as a version of a self portrait, an emotional landscape, rather than a physical one.
After a chronic illness diagnosis in 2024, I needed a practice that allowed me to express my experiences and identity. My paintings are a mirror of myself, a materialisation of my experiences and a reflection of my memories.
I aim for my paintings to create an immersive dreamscape, drawing the audience in, so they can experience a moment of wonder and tranquility. I use my paintings as a form of meditation and self expression, they create a space for me to lay down myself in the work. However, I hope my work can connect to people craving a space to breathe and lose themselves for a moment.
